Education projects
Since May 2003 volunteers from Australia have been working with Leeuwin Care at the St Bakhita Centre to help run and teach courses in both English and Computing. There are currently over one hundred students, some of which may walk up to two hours, to attend classes at the centre each afternoon.

Courses in sewing and craft are also taught out of the centre by local Timorese.
The local women and girls attend classes in knitting, cross stitch, crochet and machine sewing.
Leeuwin Care also assists in organising schools and groups in Australia to support schools in East Timor.
Originating from the Notre Dame East Timor Rebuild and Rebirth program that sends Perth students and nurses to teach in Timor to now include sister school relationships and high school visits to Timorese schools.
